At Gray's Public Library we have various policies about the acceptable usage of computers in our library!
We have many computers and laptops available for visitors to use, and these policies apply to both.
These policies are important as they allow for all library visitors to have access to these computers and allow everyone to remain safe.
Our Policies for Acceptable Usage of Computers Include:
- Access to computers - in order to be eligible to have access to a computer, you have to be above 14 years of age, otherwise you will need a parent or guardian present with you
- Time limits - a time limit will be set at 2 hours per session for each individual
- Computers can be booked out to avoid this time limit
- Individuals can have multiple sessions during the same day
- Internet usage - the library computers and wi-fi are not to be used for any illegal or inappropriate content
- Certain material is already blocked on library computers and laptops
- Behaviour during usage - ensure you are being respectful of those around you while using the computers
- For example, not playing loud music without wearing headphones
- Safety - keep any cables (e.g. charging cables for laptops or mouse cables from computers) away from any walk ways, try to keep them off the floor as often as possible
- Food and drink - there is to be no food eaten around the computers, and only water in a bottle is permitted around the computers
Violations of Computer Policies:
If you are found violating any of these policies, you could face suspension from using the library facilities, or even dismissal from the library.
