Work Health and Safety

Here at Gray's Public Library, health and safety is one of our greatest concerns. We want to ensure that all visitors and staff members remain safe and healthy at all time.

The following outlines the major work health and safety areas to focus on while using multimedia in the library:

Electrical and Fire Safety:

  • Our equipment is routinely tested and inspected
  • We ask you to please turn off any powerpoint/outlets when not in use
  • We also ask you to keep all cables and wires away from walk-ways

Manual Handling:

  • Steps are always available for use for all visitors when needing something off higher shelves
    • If you are ever unsure about using the steps, feel free to go speak to a librarian and they will assist you with this
  • Trolleys are available for all visitors to reduce the amount of weight you may be carrying
    • These trolleys are also routinely tested and inspected
  • We try to keep our library as open as possible, to reduce any awkward postures in cramped spaces
  • All of our equipment is kept in good conditions, with any broken or faulty equipment being removed from the library space

Ergonomic Working Arrangements:

  • We have height adjustable chairs, that also have adjustable backs for better posture control
  • Our desks are large and wide to allow for comfortable space to work on
  • We also try to ensure that our spaces are tidy and organised

If you see something that doesn't look right, looks broken or dangerous, please report it straight away to a librarian.
